Myth: I can keep using my credit cards up to the day before filing in bankruptcy

Under the revised bankruptcy Code any purchases, transactions and, in particular cash advances, made in the 90 days prior to filing a petition in bankruptcy, are not subject to discharge. The only exceptions are purchases of food and medicine necessary for the support of the debtor and the debtor's dependents.
